About the University
The University of Amsterdam is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is a public university. It is one of two large, publicly funded research universities in the city and one of the largest research universities. It was established in 1632 by municipal authorities and later renamed the city of Amsterdam. It is also the third-oldest university in the Netherlands.
The campus houses the Faculty of Humanities with its wide range of fields of study and is the intellectual heart of the city. The campus also has the University Library, the meeting place for people with an interest in culture and science.
A meeting place for excellent scientific talent is the Academic Medical Center. Disciplines collaborate and exchange knowledge, and students learn their trade in the vicinity of doctors, nurses, and patients.
