About the University

Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University is one of the leading medical universities of the IV level of accreditation, which has a long history and glorious traditions. Reported to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

According to the Danil Halytskyi LMU activity, it holds the leading positions in the rankings among higher education institutions and higher medical educational establishments of Ukraine.

Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University traditionally holds the 2nd place in the TOP-10 of the best medical educational establishments of Ukraine according to the consolidated rating of higher education institutions of Ukraine of the information resource “Education.ua”.

The annual contingent of the University is about 20,000 people, of which 6,273 are students, 1,164 interns, 11,593 cadets.

Academic scholarships: scholarships of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and the Mykola Amosov scholarship are awarded to the best students for their high achievements in teaching, scientific and community work.

The scientific-pedagogical work is provided by 1421 full-time scientific, scientific-pedagogical and pedagogical workers, of which 177 doctors of science and 755 candidates of sciences, including 133 professors, 401 associate professors.

Among the teaching staff of the University – 1 corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 2 academicians and 2 corresponding members of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, 14 academicians of the Academy of Higher Education of Ukraine, 7 Laureates of the State Prize of Technology in Ukraine, 1 employee of the Higher School of Ukraine, 1 Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine, 4 Honored Educators of Ukraine, 11 Honored Workers of Science and Technology of Ukraine, 21 Honored Doctor of Ukraine.

According to the number of foreign students, the University is one of the leaders among Ukrainian higher educational establishments, which testifies to its high authority in the world market of educational services. Currently, 1,137 foreign nationals from nearly 50 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America are being trained at the University, of which more than 80 percent are English language learners.

Clinical training of students, interns and students of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education is carried out at 50 clinical departments, which are located at 155 departments of clinical bases in 50 medical and preventive establishments of the city of Lviv, as well as Lutsk, Rivne, Truskavets. All clinical bases have the necessary number of specialists of higher qualification, a sufficient level of material and technical base and the necessary premises and agreements between the higher education institution and the medical-preventive institution in which the forms of relations, rights, duties and responsibilities of each party are established. The University also has its own clinical base – the Dental Center with 1,480 visits per shift.

Teaching staff of clinical departments participate in reviews of socially disadvantaged groups, residents of rural areas of Lviv, Volyn and Rivne regions. The University also cooperates with the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Western Region, Lviv Clinical Hospital of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, providing practical assistance in the treatment and rehabilitation of military and ATO participants. Employees of clinical departments perform complex surgical interventions, participate in the treatment of the wounded, injured, organize scientific and practical conferences and joint meetings of the Association of surgeons, traumatologists, anesthesiologists together with employees of the Military Medical Clinical Center of the western region.

The Danil Halytskyi Scientific Library of LNMU is actively working. Combining traditional and electronic resources in a user-friendly way, helps to maximize the satisfaction of information requests. The main information array of the library is about 650 thousand copies. The library uses traditional (printed) and electronic sources of current and retrospective information for the complete and prompt formation of information resources. Each year, publications are searched and publishers are contacted to acquire specialized literature. To a large extent, the funds are replenished with publications by our scientists.

For several years in a row, the Danil Halytsky LNMU, together with the Lille University of Science and Technology (France), the Ruhr University in Bochum (Germany), Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany), University of Gothenburg (Sweden): Graphenea (Estonia), LSO Medical (France), RS Research (Turkey) implements the Pathogen and Graphene (PANG) project of competition H2020-MSCA-RISE-2015, co-funded by the European Union within LNMU Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program is a member of the Association of Regional Cooperation the Health, Science and Technology (The Accociation for Regional Coopperation in the fields of Health, Science and Technology – RECOOP HST Association). University scholars participate in international forums: symposia, congresses, conferences, workshops and meetings held in Austria, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Poland, Russia, Turkey, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ireland, Ireland , Serbia, Hungary, Armenia, Belarus, Switzerland, Argentina, the Netherlands, and others.

Danil Halytskyi LNMU scientists are active members of European and international professional societies.

Honorary doctors of the University are distinguished scientists from leading universities in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, USA and other countries.

Application Procedure

Step 1

Applicant has to draw an application to the Rector of University for enrollment of studies in the University.

Step 2

The candidate should fill the application form including full name, permanent address, Date of Birth, citizenship, permanent address, phone number.

Step 3

After getting an invitation letter, the candidate has to apply for a student visa in the Ukrainian embassy of the respective country.

Step 4

The candidate must carry original copy of documents should be translated into Ukrainian language and legalized by Notary public and by the Ukrainian Embassy in your country.

Step 5

Candidate has to deposit admission fees at the time of the admission process.
